love you honestly

Today I had a random three hour nap. Someone asked me why I was so tired, and I realized that I was no more tired today than any given day, but still enjoyed needed the nap. This goes to show that I regularly need more sleep. Or something.
Anyway, onto some exciting new things.
a) Literature collections + Tetris = awesome!
b) IdeaFixa magazine is really visually and conceptually interesting. I especially like issues 8 & 9.
c) I like Jen Tong. Apparently.
Oh, I saw Horton Hears a Who yesterday. I liked it. It was well animated; it kept the Dr. Seuss effect while adding modern visual effects. They adapted the book into a feature film very well without immense back story or useless plotline such as with other Dr. Seuss books (The Grinch and Cat in the Hat). And the random Japanamation was spectacular!
the city is a drag

Apparently I haven’t posted in a while. Where have the days gone? There are only three weeks left of school, and I couldn’t be more excited only if I didn’t have to take a summer course. But, one course shouldn’t be a big deal. Human Body here I come!
Tonight I saw Hawksley Workman for the first time. He was great! Really funny and charismatic, and had a raw energy about him. He plays a bazillion instruments so he was all over the stage. Jin told me he likes to strip off his clothes, and in the middle of the show he took off clothes down to a t shirt and pants and then put on a bright green jumpsuit. Then the band came out also wearing the jumpsuits and they played the remainder of the show in them. Still, the strangest part about it was the venue: a United Church. Yep, that’s right. It was so strange. Images of God and Mary and Jesus all over the place while Hawksley sang Striptease. Oh, and during the really intense songs I got pretty creeped out because the atmosphere in the church was just weird. Lesson? Don’t make a church the venue for a show. I did get nice t shirt, though.
Also, this month’s edition of Pipeline, a Guiding magazine published 4 times/year apparently has an image of me at camp with other leaders finishing off a large pail of ice cream. I’m waiting eagerly for my issue.
Apparently John Stanmeyer is up for an award for his malaria pictures. And so he should be.
For some reason this shirt design screams Tegan and Sara.
And, I think I want one of these clocks. Though, a collection would probably look cooler.
Tomorrow is the last day of classes this week, and I have a large painting project due which I haven’t really been working on. I think I’ll stay home and work on it during the day and try to get it handed in later in the day. Or possibly next week. We’ll see how I feel.
I’ve watched a couple movies lately: Atonement, Charlie Bartlett, and Running with Scissors. Has anyone read the memoir RWS is based on? That movie was so messed up but I really, really enjoyed it and would love to read the memoir. Hit me up if you know.

I need to learn more about glass. Prince Rupert is fucking incredible!
Tonight I took part in Student Kitchen Project (link coming soon), a joint initiative by Bryanna and Bonnie to encourage student group cooking while learning together innovative and cost effective ways of cooking on a budget. We made beet soup, leek and potato soup, vegetarian shepherd’s pie, and some curry chickpea enchiladas. Delicious, thanks ladies!
another holiday

would be really nice.
If you like furry little rodents don’t click here.
I wonder what this would taste like.
Crayola’s got nothing on this.
This guy’s kind of funny. In a weird “I have no legs. So what?” kind of way.
Jin and I saw Penelope the other night, and despite the poor reviews I really enjoyed it. I liked the story line; it was light and airy, just what I needed. Christina Ricci was perfect for the title character, and James McAvoy is a good actor. Also, I’m going to check out the soundtrack because from what I paid attention to, it was pretty decent.
a tokyo workman weekend

So I’m at a crux (again). Do they ever really go away? I’m tired of school; I don’t even know if I want to get into Education anymore. I know I want to teach, but I think I need a break from school right now. School is not teaching me anything right now other than I hate the system and want to leave. Art is boring, English is no longer inspiring, and Japanese is the same as always. Sigh.
Sometimes, especially on absolutely beautiful days like today, I wish there was something keeping me in Vancouver. I’ve grown to like this city, and I really feel that if I didn’t need to contend with school so much I would enjoy this city so much more. I had a lovely time walking around 4th today window shopping and people watching. It was glorious. Yet, at the same time I want to go back home to see my family and friends and take a break. It will be nice to save some money via no rent or groceries and pay off the student loan.
I am so looking forward to sleeping in this Saturday. First one to do so in a month.
On a positive note, I’m going to see Hawksley Workman with Jin on the 17, Vampire Weekend on the 27 (P.S. anyone want to see them with me? 12.50 plus tax!), and Tokyo Police Club with Austin in May. Weeee!
Check this out. It came from this. Hilarious.
