I hate rating movies with numbers

El Bola – Excellent acting. The director executed the hidden quality of El Bola’s abuse extremely well, and at the beginning of the film I thought, “This kid doesn’t have it so bad.” Excellent directing.

My Brother is an Only Child – The beginning was strange and choppy. Excellent transition into adulthood. Spot on acting.

Capote – His voice!

Wendy and Lucy – Humble and honest. Poignant too.

24 Hour Party People – (so far) I’m not sure about the filming. Characters seem flat and unaffected. I like the idea, but few films are successful at creating an audience/character relationship/conversation where the character speaks to the camera. We’ll see.
